Otherworldly Toronto experience will be like walking through a giant Lite-Brite toy

If you're a fan of classic retro toys, you might want to keep this upcoming 360-degree experience in Toronto on your radar.

On Monday, entertainment complex Illuminarium at The Distillery District officially announced the premiere of its new immersive experience LITE BRITE: Worlds of Wonder.

Originally marketed in 1967, the Lite-Brite toy consists of a light box with small coloured plastic pegs that fit into a panel and illuminate to create a lit picture.

The 60-minute experience was created by Toronto-based Emmy Award-winning content studio, Secret Location, as well as toy and game company, Hasbro, Inc.

Set to take place in the expansive 13,500-square-foot space at 28 Gristmill Lane, the experience will reimagine the Hasbro toy and feature three worlds of play, including a magical ocean, lush forests where dinosaurs roam, and a futuristic sci-fi city.

The gaming experience will stay true to the original toy, featuring thousands of interactive-coloured lights, and visuals entirely driven by its distinctive hexagonal peg pattern.

Throughout the show, you can engage with several features, such as Lidar sensors that allow you to interact with the floors and walls to create personalized motions and designs.

You can also play and create with the physical Lite-Brite toys onsite or check out the Lite-Brite Imagination Gallery showcasing artwork by local Toronto artists.
