24 bars with 4am extended last call for NXNE 2014

Posted by Derek Flack / June 19, 2014

nxne last call 4amNXNE 2014 is here, and along with the flood of shows taking place across Toronto, festival-goers and barflies can take advantage of 4am extended last call at over 20 bars and restaurants in the city. Most of the places on this list are also venues for the festival, so you can expect live music to stretch well into the early morning hours (both scheduled and otherwise), but even when the stage has been packed up, the party doesn't necessarily have to end. Yes, this is one of those rare occasions (like TIFF and Nuit Blanche) when Toronto liquor laws make a whole lot more sense. Let us all be responsible enough that a 4am last call is at some point not reserved merely for special events.

If they can do this for special events and it doesn't result in chaos in the streets, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria, etc... then I'd like to hear a legit argument as to why it can't be allowed all the time.

There isn't a legit reason. It's basically political inertia. No one wants to be the first to suggest it because they fear they'll lose constituents.

Its an easy argument to get past, especially with Ontario being in such big debt. Late last call equates to larger volume of liqour sales. This will require bars to buy a larger volume of alcohol which our government will get more tax dollars from, and produce more jobs taxi services will extend peak hours to drive people around, and more alcohol consumption will require larger volume of alcohol production which will require more barley and hops which in turn will require more farmers to work.

Awesome! Supposed to be great weather this weekend. The city needs to extend the last call, it helps with the economy and spending in the downtown core. Helps year over year sales for alot of businesses if they can do this a couple of times a year. Extending last call while a music festival is on and thousands of visitors are here makes complete sense! Great News!

Considering that Handlebar is actually ATTACHED to a residence, it is downright ridiculous that they have a liquor license in the first place, let alone extended hours. Worst. Bar. Owners. Ever.

It's a shame the extended permit was granted to Handlebar, considering they are actually attached to a residence. That takes a lot of nerve, and a massive lack of consideration.

How sweet, luvs2drank. You will fit right in! Thank you for your consideration. But of course, addicts aren't known for their life skills.

Great listing but now that NXNE is over is there a listing for venues with extended liquor licences for World Pride?
