WEDNESDAY APRIL 13 / LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III / HUGH'S ROOM / 2261 DUNDAS ST W / $42.50 / ALL AGES
Modern Renaissance man Louden Wainwright III visits Toronto, playing two nights at Hugh's Room on Wednesday and Thursday. After winning Best Traditional Folk Album at the Grammy's last year for his twentieth LP High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project, Wainwright returns in support of his newest record 10 Songs for the New Depression.

THURSDAY APRIL 14 / CANADA ROCKS 4 JAPAN / SOUND ACADEMY / 11 POLSON ST / $26.50 / ALL AGES
Much Music's Lauren Toyota hosts a special night at the Sound Academy, as twenty Canadian artists take the stage for one great cause: to aid Japan after the devastation caused by the tsunami and earthquake. Ticket proceeds go to the Canadian Red Cross' relief efforts in Japan, and the audience will be treated with a line-up that includes Maestro Fresh Wes, Justin Nozuka, Glenn Lewis, Karl Wolf, Fito Blanko and more. Visit the Canada Rocks 4 Japan website for more details.

FRIDAY APRIL 15 / HELP JAPAN BENEFIT CONCERT / THE GARRISON / 1197 DUNDAS ST W / $5 / 19+
If you can't make it to the "Canada Rocks 4 Japan" show on Thursday, then head over to The Garrison on Friday night for the "Help Japan Benefit Concert". The showcase is an indie-pop version of Thursday night's benefit concert, and all proceeds again go to Canadian Red Cross. Featured are locals Modernboys Moderngirls, Make Your Exit, The Elwins, Hotkid, and other special guests.

SATURDAY APRIL 16 / BLACK LIPS / PHOENIX / 410 SHERBOURNE ST / $19.50 / 19+
Atlanta psychedelic, garage-punk band Black Lips headlines the Phoenix on Saturday night. The band is set to release its sixth LP Arabia Mountain later this summer. And Brooklyn's Vivian Girls are scheduled to open. Vivian Girls released their third album Share the Joy - despite its members taking on their own side projects - ex-drummer Ali Koehler with Best Coast, Cassie Ramone with The Babies and Katy Goodman with La Sera.

MONDAY APRIL 18 / TV ON THE RADIO / SOUND ACADEMY / 11 POLSON ST / $28 / ALL AGES
TV on the Radio ends their three-year hiatus with the release of the band's fifth record Nine Types of Light. Sound Academy looks to be a perfect venue for these soul rockers/howlers always looking to have fun. Expect sleek and sexy tunes, trombone screamers and classic tunes like "Wolf Like Me" and "Lover's Day" mixed with new tracks like "Will Do". New York's Lissy Trullie joins the line-up.
