Rotate ThisI spoke with Brian from Rotate This who recommends....

The Ex - Catch My Shoe

"Anyone that knows The Ex just knows The Ex. The album is a little more polished/poppy but they never really change much - they're always good."

Kleenex/Liliput - 1977-1983

"Kleenex are awesome. It's cool because they haven't been a band in 25 years and haven't put out anything in a long time. It's a reissue and it's nice to see it on vinyl."

Braids - Native Speaker

Brian began commenting on the Braids album but immediately stopped and gave me the following instructions; "go home, listen to the album, e-mail me what you think and I'll tell you if I agree"

I thought it was really impressive. She reminded me a little of Bjorks unique but confident vocals and I think that's what I like most about the album. I found myself lost in it at times but that's definitely not a bad thing - the instrumentals are soothing but not the point that I lost attention. They also get extra points because they're Canadian.

Brian ends the conversation saying "we like putting records in the window that aren't quite out yet - just to piss off the other record stores. If you can't have fun then why go to work?"

cool idea.

Don't forget to feature some of the record shops that aren't all about indie rock (cosmos for jazz, latin and funk - Play De for hiphop etc)

Huh. I think I saw the writer of this post jotting down notes from the window when I went in to get my Braids tickets.

Can you please, in future, let us know what the genre is of the albums you're posting?
I'm interested in finding new music, but would like to save time and weed out all the ukelele indie pop.

If you're ACTUALLY interested in finding new music, would it be that great of an effort to click the included links to their reviews? are you running dial up? it's almost like someone took the time to write a detailed description of what the record sounds like, in context with their peers. what a crazy concept.

actually, if there are pitchfork review, they must all be 'ukulele indie pop'. don't listen to anything posted here.
