Sorauren Park Pumpkin Parade the Biggest Yet
The Sorauren Park Pumpkin Parade was the biggest ever this year, with organizers counting an amazing 1,620 Jack-O-Lanterns.
Every year (see last year's photos) on November 1st, nearby residents come together in the park to get one last glimpse of their carved pumpkins, ahead of their imminent post-Halloween (to the compost!) demise.

What a great display there was last night!

I made it out this year thanks to a write up about it on here last year. I marked my calendar and first headed down to the Harbord BIA display (also read about it here) and was really impressed by some of them (in particular the ones in front of Dessert Trends). I stopped by this park on the way back home and was amazed how many pumpkins there were!
Oh, and is this done in any other neighbourhoods/cities? I think it is a great idea that should be adopted by others
I love this idea. I was there last night and it was great non-commercial, community-based, creative, fun. It should become an annual event everywhere!
I went. The event was not a success this year. Maybe next year we can have it sponsored by Scotia Bank and then it will be possible for a true public event.
this was amazing! i just moved here a few months ago and just randomly drove by this event when it was happening. can't believe how many pumpkins there were. the michael jackson thriller ones ruled.
Thanks a lot Jerrold for putting together the amazing photos ... so many awesome pumpkins. It's a great thing for Toronto and the neighboring communities. Saw several amazing pumpkins on Harbord (was real intrigued by those at DT Bistro). Didn't know about those at Sorauren pakr ... hopefully the event will happen again next year. The people all over Harbord were so friendly like one huge family.

We did the same thing Sunday night in Riverdale, thanks to a local mom who sent out an e-mail blast calling everyone to Withrow Park. Got dozens of people, maybe 50 pumpkins, not bad for a first year. But by Monday afternoon they'd all been smashed. Sigh
