Posted by Jerrold Litwinenko / October 29, 2008

raccoon photo torontoWhen browsing recent submissions to the blogTO Flickr pool, I came across this comical one by SirCharlie, and have to admit that it got a genuine EL-OH-EL out of me.

One of the best aspects of home ownership (vs. condo/apt living) is the chance to blast these suckers with a jet of cold water.

I think they like it.

@The Beerad:

wow, I sure hope you're joking. I genuinely feel sorry for raccoons who have to navigate our concrete jungle looking for food, even in the dead of winter.

spraying a bare animal with water when it's -20 out is disgusting.

@Rob: You really got yourself all worked up into a lather there. Who said anything about -20C? Who leaves the water hooked up to the garden hose in the winter? And food is far more plentiful in the "concrete jungle" than in the bush, so you don't have to feel too bad for them.

even better than the hose is a super-soaker filled with hot sauce and vinegar. you just have to make sure the cayenne doesn't clog it up.
