OLYMPICS | Olympic Torch Relay
It's been 21 years since the Olympic torch passed through Toronto on its way to the Calgary Winter Games, making today's appearance of the flame a rare occurance. The torch will make its way through the GTA starting in the early morning and hitting Yonge and Bloor by 6 pm. The lucky Canadians who get to carry the torch include Murray Downey, an 83-year old who won gold as a member of the 1948 hockey team, and women's hockey medallist Vicky Sunohara. The torch relay will end with a ceremony at Nathan Philips Square after stopping by nearby Sick Kids Hospital to cheer up the kiddies.

THEATRE | Anitafrika Dub Theatre presents the Mikey Smith Raw Works Festival
The Anitafrika Dub Theatre is dedicated to sustaining the oral traditions of Jamaica and Africa, and is a strong politcally-infused voice on the Toronto theatre scene. For the next three days they present a festival of raw, unfinished works penned (or orated, I suppose) by Anitafrika resident artists including Amanda Parris, Cassandra Walker, and Julie Tesolin. All proceeds go to support Anitafrika Dub Theatre. Runs til Saturday.

MUSIC | Hylozoists Video Release and Holiday Party
The Whippersnapper Gallery has become an exciting venue to see compelling art and music by some of the city's young emerging artists (and the occasional touring band) since it opened up five years ago. Rumour has it the plucky young gallery may not last much longer, but as long as it's open it will continue to host great concerts including tonight's video release show for vibraphone-toting supergroup the Hylozoists, who are made up of members of the indie icons the Weakerthans and Cuff the Duke.

COMEDY | I'll Be Home for Comedy
A tacky Christmas sweater will get you $3 off the cover of this show at downtown's hottest comedy club. Seven established comedians including MTV's Kevin Herod, MuchMusic's Keith Pedro and Bite TV's Daniel Woodrow will wow the crowd with the kind of jokes inspired by one too many glasses of eggnog. Come see why the Comedy Bar is staking a claim to the title of the city's premiere chuckle hut.

PARTY | Tough Titties
Queen St. West's hottest lesbian bar gets bumping tonight with beats from a pair of sexy grrls with tude in Djs She-La and Bink. The narrow establishment will be crammed with the most stylish of partiers who enjoy the sounds of classic punk, electro, and nu wave. Things are sure to get greasier than a slick pelt in a swamp hole.

FASHION | Hi-Style Holladayz
For the past two and a half months, a group of Toronto photographers and writers have been documenting the style of the city's Dufferin-Eglinton and Oakwood-Vaughn neighbourhoods. The result is a stylebook that not only displays the cutting-edge trends among Toronto's young people, but examines how what we wear is ultimately an expression of who we are and what our community stands for. The stylebook is launched tonight at a party hosted by 69 Vintage and the Deadly Nightshades. All proceeds go to benefit the Style Council, an arts-based community development organization.
