Your morning news roundup for Thursday January 17th, 2008:

A feisty 18-year old girl trying to board a TTC streetcar was attacked by two boys, and she's not happy that the driver slammed the doors shut, and took off without helping her. Other transit drivers seem to be far more proactive in dealing with boys they deem to be troublesome.

Guards at the Don Jail walked off the job over ongoing internal problems including morbid threats, blatant racism, and a guy that leaves his stinky meat sandwiches in his locker for days at a time*. They've been ordered back to work, and have been promised that action will be taken to eliminate the problems.

When people in positions of (nuclear) power make decisions that don't align with our Prime Minister's agenda, he simply gets them fired at the most convenient time. While I don't claim to wield much in the way of power, it would be kind of fun to see them try to get Tim to fire me for repeatedly calling him a weasel in the Morning Brew.

Bloorcourt Village residents and business owners woke up to the sound of rushing water last night. A water main break near Bloor and Ossington resulted in basement and 1st floor flooding to a number of buildings. This doesn't sound nearly as fun as surfing.

Family Day opponents continue to call the waaaambulance. This time, the gripe is over $50,000 in traffic fines that were scheduled to be doled in court that day, which will instead be tossed.

Former Toronto Maple Leaf Rob Ramage is expected to be sentenced today. He was found criminally responsible for his friend's death back in October.
