Toronto's new park with fake beach and lookout tower is coming together

A highly-anticipated park in Toronto is slowly starting to take shape in the Port Lands, and new images show several structures in place as construction picks up speed ahead of the summer season.

The Leslie Lookout Park will be located on the Martin Goodman Trail at the entrance to Tommy Thompson Park. It's slated to be completed by the end of 2023 and will include a public beach, forested dunes, and 360-degree views of the Port Lands.

The two-acre park is set to connect visitors to the water's edge and provide a viewing platform where you can soak in the city's skyline.

gh3* shared several construction updates on Thursday via Instagram.

"This new destination will offer opportunities for year-round programming, including pop-up events, concerts and public art, as well as a unique lookout experience with a west-facing view of the downtown core, and a stunning 360-degree view of the Port Lands," reads a description of the park.

Claude Cormier + Associés (now branded as CCxA) is designing and constructing the park, and is the same firm behind other notable spaces in Toronto like Sugar Beach, Berczy Park, and the upcoming Love Park at the southern foot of York Street and Queens Quay.

The park is being constructed in collaboration with Toronto-based architecture firm gh3*, who will be creating the lookout structure.

Although no exact date for the opening of the park has been provided, it definitely looks like the project is picking up some steam as it inches closer to its projected completion time.
