Two Ontario destinations named among best summer vacation spots

If you're already looking forward to heading on a family vacation this summer, picking an Alberta destination just got a whole lot easier.

U.S. News and World Report just released its list of the best summer family vacations for 2026, and Banff National Park found itself in second place.

"Banff National Park's breathtaking, glacier-fed lakes should be the focal point for family summer adventures."

Of course, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake were major draws to the region, thanks to their iconic turquoise waters that become even more vibrant in the summer months, making them ideal spots for paddling, picnicking, and soaking in the scenery.

The list also mentioned several gondolas in the area, like the Banff Gondola and the Lake Louise Gondola, which offer sweeping views of the Rockies and an easy way for families to reach stunning viewpoints without a hike.

Beyond its natural beauty, the park also offers a range of places to stay, from iconic resorts like the Fairmont Banff Springs to more budget-friendly cabin rentals and apartment-style accommodations.

Niagara Falls and Toronto were the only other Canadian destinations to make the list, coming in 11th and 17th place, respectively.

Yellowstone National Park to the top spot, followed by Banff in second, and Washington, D.C. in third. The Bahamas and Bermuda rounded out the top five.

This isn't the first time Banff National Park has topped lists as an amazing place to visit. It's previously been named a wonder of the world for 2026 and one of the best spots for travelling in 2026.
