If visiting South America is on your travel bucket list, you'll be pleased to hear that Toronto will soon be getting a non-stop flight service to one of the continent's most historic cities.
On Wednesday, Air Canada announced its expanded winter network that includes the addition of flights to Quito, Ecuador, from Toronto Pearson Airport in December 2026.
According to UNESCO, Ecuador's capital was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of an Inca city and has the "best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America." Apart from its rich history, Quito is known for its Andean-flavoured street food, lush parks, colonial architecture, and craft beer scene.
Quito is also the gateway to Ecuador's most famous natural wonder, the Galápagos Islands, which attracts over 270,000 visitors from around the world every year.
Starting Dec. 5, 2026, the airline will be offering one flight per week to Quito from Toronto onboard its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Flights depart Pearson Airport at 5:55 p.m. on Saturdays and return to Toronto on Sundays at approximately 3:10 p.m., local time.
Starting in October, Air Canada will also expand its service to offer year-round flights to Manchester and Copenhagen. Service to Manchester officially kicks off on Oct. 25 with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while service to Copenhagen begins on Oct. 27, with flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Last year, Air Canada boosted its presence in the southern hemisphere with the launch of its direct flight route between Toronto and Lima, Peru, which officially began on Dec. 5, 2025.
