Sub-zero temperatures and last week's abrupt snowstorm in Toronto might have you already planning out your summer escape for 2026, and the good news is, travellers out of Pearson Airport will have a few new options for flight routes to international cities next year.
On Tuesday, Calgary-headquartered airline WestJet announced the first portion of its summer 2026 network schedule and revealed four new seasonal international destinations from Toronto.
WestJet will launch non-stop routes to Medellín, Colombia; Cardiff, U.K.; and the Azores archipelago (Ponta Delgada, Portugal) next year, and also reinstate its service to Glasgow, Scotland, which the airline last served in 2022.
The airline will also introduce a new Toronto-Cardiff flight service. The capital of Wales was last served by Zoom Airlines in 2008, a now-defunct low-fare airline previously headquartered in Ottawa. All of the aforementioned flight routes will run four times a week.
Flights from Toronto to Medellín will launch on April 28, 2026, followed by Glasgow on May 15, Cardiff on May 22, and Ponta Delgada on June 12. As part of the airline's summer schedule, the airline will also be extending its service to sun destinations, including flights to Puerto Plata, which will operate once weekly.
"We're thrilled to see WestJet expanding its international network from Toronto Pearson, including its first non-stop service to South America and the launch of North America's only direct flight to Wales," said Kurush Minocher, Interim Chief Commercial Officer at Pearson Airport.
"These new routes further strengthen Pearson's role as Canada's global gateway, providing travellers with more options to connect to destinations across the United Kingdom, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America."
Flights are now available for booking online, and the airline's remaining schedule for the summer travel season is set to be announced in early 2026.
