Canadians want to visit Toronto way more than any U.S. cities in 2025

As more Canadians reconsider travel to the U.S. this year, many are choosing to explore domestic getaways and international destinations.

California's governor is trying to convince Canadians to travel to the Golden State, which promises beaches, vineyards, and outdoor adventure. It turns out that Canadians are still looking for all those things, but they're just willing to travel within the country or venture further to avoid travelling south of the border.

Although some Canadians are still choosing to travel to the U.S., others are looking to explore options near and far. Skyscanner, a travel search aggregator, has just released its latest Smarter Summer Report, detailing how Canadians can plan budget-friendly trips and where they're headed.

According to the report, 68 per cent of Canadians are still looking to book their summer holidays, and 76 per cent of adventurous Canadians are “open to lesser-known destinations in exchange for better value.”

"It's not just about where you go but how you plan," said Laura Lindsay, Skyscanner's travel expert. "Canadians are taking a more intentional approach this year, looking to extend every aspect of their time off, from stretching their budget and travel time to staying flexible and exploring more destinations."

Notably absent from Skyscanner's Summer Report's top 10 most popular destinations for Canadians are U.S. destinations — in fact, the top three destinations are right here in Canada.

According to Skyscanner, here are the most popular destinations for Canadians to jet off to this year and the cheapest weeks and days to book a vacation.
