TD Rewards Points

With grocery prices climbing, bills stacking up, and social plans seeming to get more expensive every month, a lot of young Canadians are looking for ways to make their money go further.

But while many are collecting rewards points, they may not fully understand the range of ways they can use them toward purchases and experiences that matter to them.

To help inspire Canadians, TD partnered with TikTok creator Mel Hwang to take on the TD Living on Rewards Challenge. It follows Hwang as she shows what it could look like to use only TD Rewards Points for a whole week.

From May 8 to May 15, Mel Hwang will show how to redeem TD Rewards Points for everyday purchases and experiences, showing what rewards could look like when they're treated less like a forgotten perk and more like part of real-life spending.

Living on Rewards

From essential tasks like grabbing groceries to trying new activities in the city (puppy yoga, anyone?), there are actually lots of different ways points can fit into daily life.

Sure, points can be redeemed for travel, hotels, or Amazon purchases — but there's so much more.

Mel's episodes are set to roll out daily on her Instagram, giving viewers a closer look at how TD Reward Points could be used in ways that feel practical, flexible, and genuinely useful. This will help them understand the range of ways they can redeem and get meaningful value on what they really want. And the timing couldn't be better, since Gen Zers are becoming more intentional about where their money goes.

Why it matters

According to research by TD, 28 per cent of Gen Z have redeemed rewards for something they didn’t really want just so they wouldn't go to waste, and 26 per cent have made a last-minute redemption before points expired. On top of this, 43 per cent of Gen Z treat rewards as a "bonus" or "freebie."

That's the thing — many Canadians may not fully realize the flexibility of programs like TD Rewards or the variety of ways points can actually be redeemed. Following Mel's series, you can learn how rewards can fit naturally into everyday purchases and experiences, rather than feeling like they are something reserved for special occasions.

To follow Mel's Living on Rewards challenge and see how she makes TD Rewards Points work across the week, follow her on Instagram. Or, to learn more about TD Rewards Points, visit the TD website.
