Spring booster season is here in Ontario, and that means it's time to book your vaccination.

Shoppers Drug Mart makes it easy with walk-in options or online booking, so you can schedule in advance at a time that works for you.

Since pharmacists in Ontario can administer the COVID-19 vaccine, there's no need to wait around; appointments are readily available.

High-risk groups eligible for COVID boosters

The new COVID-19 variant has now been detected in Ontario — BA.3.2, nicknamed "cicada", due to it being dormant before a sudden rise in cases. As such, high-risk groups are eligible to receive COVID-19 spring boosters, based on the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI).

Recommendations state that adults aged 80 and older should receive an additional vaccine dose this spring, while those aged 65 to 79 may also do so if they wish.

Additional doses are also recommended for adult residents of long-term care and other congregate living settings, as well as individuals aged 55 and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis — and their non-Indigenous household members aged 55 and older.
