Ontario police warn of Bell and Rogers scammers who visit your home

Guelph Police have published a warning about a new scam involving Rogers and Bell. The police have received reports of fraudulent service promotions from individuals claiming they are from Rogers or Bell.

Scammers claiming they are with carriers aren't exactly new, but what's crazy about this scam is that the people of Guelph have received a phone call and had someone visit their home in person.

These scammers pretend to work for Bell or Rogers and offer the victim a discounted or lower rate. They then collect as much information as possible, even meeting victims at their homes to get even more information or help them register for their fake programs and services.

After getting the information, they'll log into their Rogers or Bell account, change their details and steal what they can.

One victim described one of the scammers as a man in his thirties, brown-skinned, with a slight East-Indian accent. He was carrying a notebook, cleanly dressed and driving a four-door white sedan.

If you have any information or have been a victim of this scam, Guelph Police are asking you to call them at 519-824-1212, leave an anonymous tip for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
