Elon Musk says Canada isn't real in response to demands his citizenship be revoked

Elon Musk is lashing out at Canada in response to a petition to revoke his Canadian citizenship.

On February 20th, Nanaimo, B.C. author Qualia Reed (Shadows of Athelon) started the parliamentary e-petition, arguing that Musk "has engaged in activities that go against the national interest of Canada," including using "his wealth and power to influence our elections" and becoming a member of "a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty."

The petition ultimately asks that the South African-born Musk, who has Canadian citizenship through his Regina native mother Maye, be stripped of said citizenship. At the time of writing, the petition has accumulated nearly 250,000 signatures.

On his X (Twitter) platform, Musk responded to a post about the petition, stating that "Canada is not a real country." Musk has now deleted the post.

It should be noted that the post that Musk was replying to a post that rather reductively boiled down the petition's issues with the business mogul to "opposing political views," failing to address any of the actual concerns.

Namely, the petition raises a valid point regarding how Musk is playing a key role in "a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty" — in this case, the United States.

For months now, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his intent to unlawfully annex Canada, despite the country being both a longtime American ally and part of the Commonwealth.

Trump has also promised to hit Canada — a historically lucrative trade partner — with heavy tariffs that will hurt not only Canadians, but the American economy as well. All of this happens as Musk remains a close ally of Trump and even serves as the head of his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) agency.

Musk has also alluded to Trump's repeated claims about Canada being the U.S.' "51st state" and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau its "governor." 

When Trudeau posted in January that there "isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States," the ever-petulant and painfully unfunny Musk said, "Girl, you're not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn't matter what you say."

Musk also once embarrassingly compared Trudeau to Hitler — a move that aged like milk considering the Tesla CEO made multiple Nazi salutes this year.

But above all else, Musk is renowned for being one of the most infantile and power-hungry narcissists on the planet, so it's not a surprise he'd be upset over hundreds of thousands of people trying to take away his Canadian citizenship.

Of course, the government is under no legal obligation to act upon the petition, but it's certainly nice to see so many people come out against the clownish businessman.

In other news, Musk is being sued by conservative pundit Ashley St. Clair for sole custody over a child she claims they share. This follows a long-running feud that Musk has with one of his exes, Canadian singer Grimes, over their three children. Grimes recently said Musk has been ignoring her about their child's "medical crisis."

But hey, why worry about being a halfway decent father to your many children when you can cry about hundreds of thousands of Canadians hating you?
