Ex-Blue Jay Kevin Gausman has adorable day off with wife in Toronto
If baseball fans in this city didn't already love former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman, what he just did on Monday was absolutely adorable.
Gausman's Chicago Cubs had their final off day of the regular season, and the 35-year-old right-hander travelled to Toronto from Cincinnati to spend the day exploring the city with his wife.
Gausman's wife, Taylor, shared photos from their adorable date on social media, including a stroll past Rogers Centre and dinner at upscale Japanese-Korean restaurant Akira Back, located on the second floor of the Bisha Hotel at 80 Blue Jays Way in the Entertainment District.
Taylor also shared a photo of them indulging in the restaurant's famous Tuna Pizza, made with a tortilla crust, thinly sliced bigeye tuna, umami aioli and Maldon sea salt.

It was only a quick one-day trip to Toronto for Gausman, who is slated to take the mound for the Cubs on Tuesday night against the Miami Marlins in Chicago.
Even though Gausman was traded to Chicago at the deadline in exchange for rookie outfielder Brett Bateman and infield prospect Ty Southisene, the pitcher and his family have apparently kept their roots in Toronto.
When Gausman left the Blue Jays, he said on the 6ix Inning Stretch podcast that he fully plans on returning to the city whenever he retires.
"This isn't goodbye. I'll be around, so don't be surprised if you see me around Toronto," he said.
With the 2026 season not even over yet, Blue Jays fans probably didn't expect to see him back in the city quite this soon.
Gausman is also set to become a free agent this offseason, which opens the door for a potential return to Toronto if the Blue Jays decide to put an offer on the table.
Though recently, things have looked a little better in Chicago.
The Cubs are just one win away from clinching a spot in the National League Wild Card, while the Blue Jays' postseason hopes are getting slimmer by the day.
Toronto is one loss away from being mathematically eliminated from the postseason and would need to win its final five games, plus get some serious help from other teams, to have a chance.
