Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews and girlfriend are Instagram official

Toronto Maple Leafs fans learned some major news on Tuesday.

It had long been speculated that Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews was in a relationship, though the 28-year-old was clearly making an attempt to keep that part of his life away from the prying eyes of fans and media.

That all changed recently, however.

Many fans on Instagram noticed that Vanessa Piunno, a skincare specialist in Toronto, had uploaded two photos alongside Matthews on Tuesday. What made things all the more obvious was that the pictures were taken in Milan, Italy, during the Olympics.

"A month to remember forever," Piunno captioned the post.

And, as if that weren't enough proof as is, the NHL Follow Tracker account on X confirmed that the Leafs star forward has followed her on Instagram.

"Nice to see Auston so happy," one user commented. "Good for you guys and congrats on gold!"

It certainly would have been quite the experience for Piunno, as Matthews and his U.S. teammates were able to defeat Canada by a 2-1 final in the gold medal game. It marked the first time in 46 years that the U.S. men's hockey team won gold at the Olympics.

Though Matthews has always done his best to keep his personal life private, it seems that both he and Piunno have finally decided to confirm their relationship publicly.

Perhaps we will soon get to see a new side of the Leafs sniper through Piunno's Instagram posts.
