Edo Japan

Canadian restaurant uncovers wild link between dreams and food cravings

Have you ever woken up craving the food you've dreamt about? If that answer is yes, then you are not alone!

Edo Japan, a Japanese-inspired, Canadian quick-service restaurant chain, found some interesting insights when it comes to the foods we eat and crave.

Conducted by HarrisX Canada, the Crave of Your Dreams survey* found that 84 per cent of Canadians who experience food dreams have made a purchase from quick-service restaurants within the past month — talk about a strong belly-mind connection.

Some food for thought for us here in Ontario: 78 per cent of Ontarians polled said they have woken up craving the foods they dreamed about, with two-thirds confirming their dreams actually influenced their meal choices!

Dreaming of Japanese food

When it comes to Japanese food specifically, the survey found that nearly half of Canadians polled said they instantly crave it when they wake up.

With the restaurant's craveable Japanese-inspired meals, it's no wonder so many of us are dreaming up tasty snacks in sleepy land. Edo's Teriyaki Chicken is what dreams are made of, with juicy grilled chicken, cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, and carrots served with rice and smothered in Edo's signature teriyaki sauce (loved from coast to coast!).

Still snoring away? Sukiyaki Beef is sure to wake you up! With Edo Japan's version of the popular Teppan-style grilled dish, you're getting succulent beef and simmered veggies with that famous teriyaki drizzle!

edo japanEdo offers a variety of meals to satisfy any craving, from fresh sushi, to new Poke bowls, to bubble tea. Want to shake up your classic meal? Add brown or cauliflower rice, yakisoba or ramen noodles, tofu, and even proteins, for a couple extra dollars. And for even more teriyaki tastes, why not get a teriyaki bento?

No matter what you order at Edo, its signature flavours will be swirling in your head all day (and all night)! In fact, the Crave of Your Dreams survey found 20 per cent of Ontarians polled said they too dream about Japanese cuisine, with half saying they crave it immediately.

edo japanFor over 45 years, Edo Japan has been serving up delicious Japanese meals across the country. With quality at the top of mind, Edo Japan ensures flavour and freshness are packed into every bite.

So no, it's not just your imagination, it's a premonition! When that next craving hits, visit your nearest Edo Japan location for some dream-worthy bites.

*This survey was conducted online by HarrisX within Canada from April 11-14, 2025, among 1,017 Canadians aged 18+. The sampling margin of error of this survey is plus or minus 3.07 percentage points. Results were weighted by age, gender, and province, where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.
