Oche King West
Oche King West is Toronto's latest destination to play, eat, and drink.
Housed in the former Second Floor Events space just west of Spadina, this all-in-one playground offers elevated bar bites inspired by British classics, creative craft cocktails, and high-tech rounds of darts and shuffleboard.
Born from the team behind popular ping pong social club SPIN, it's the first Canadian outpost of the internationally acclaimed games bar.
For owner-operator Ryan Fisher, it's a chance to continue doing what he does best, bridging dining with good old-fashioned fun.
"Oche is a combination of darts, shuffleboard, and karaoke. It's basically a place where you can come do a bunch of activities while you eat and drink and have a good time, " shares owner and operator Ryan Fisher.
Like its other franchise locations, Oche blends the minimalist aesthetic of Scandinavian design with the playful energy of a rec room. Every square foot features clean lines, natural-toned woods, and warm lighting.
For darts, pricing starts at $20 per person for the hour, although you'll get a better deal the longer you play, with 2 hours priced at $32.
Each dartboard comes equipped with various interactive games designed to bring out your competitive spirit.
And while you play, there's a large selection of small plates, shareables, and mains to snack on with a menu that puts a Canadian spin on British pub fare. Inspired by the game's origins across the pond, there's everything from triple-cooked hand-cut chips to jammy scotch eggs.
A twist on Sausage Rolls ($12), this vegetarian version swaps ground pork for a savoury lentil and mushroom filling, all wrapped in a buttery, flaky puff pastry. It's topped with smoky maple mustard and a sprinkle of finely chopped chives.
The Cauliflower Bites ($12) are another veggie-friendly option. Brined in buttermilk and tossed in a gluten-free flour dredge, they're crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a mildly spiced tikka masala sauce.
The Scotch Egg ($15) is a traditional rendition, featuring a crispy deep-fried exterior, minced beef stuffing, and soft-boiled egg centre. It comes paired with sweet pickle relish and that same smoky maple mustard.
Inspired by London's love for a good curry, the Curry Chips ($12) feature thick-cut, triple-cooked chips topped with an English-style curry. These chips are standouts on their own, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and finished with a cooling yogurt sauce to balance the heat from the curry.
Alternatively, there are also hand-cut Sweet Potato Chips ($6) with chipotle mayo, if that's more your speed.
The Flank Skewers ($19) are the perfect finger food. Made with tender Ontario beef and seasoned with a house-made chimichurri, they're built for sharing (or not).
The Fish and Chips ($26) features a tender, flaky piece of cod. While some fish and chips recipes call for sparkling water in the beer batter, this one subs in a splash of vodka to create the lightest, crispiest golden-brown crust. On the side: triple-cooked beef fat chips dusted with malt salt, crunchy coleslaw, and a tangy tartar sauce.
While Shepherd's Pie ($26) often takes the form of some sort of casserole, this one reimagines the dish as a pizza. Inspired by the cozy flavours of the humble cottage pie, this thin-crust version layers creamy garlic béchamel, ground lamb, smoked provolone, crispy scalloped potatoes, sweet corn, and sliced scallions.
The Commonwealth ($21) is a take on a Canadian pizza, topped with tomato sauce, mushrooms, house-cured maple bacon, and plenty of cheese. For a sweet and savoury combo, the bacon is seasoned with brown sugar, maple syrup, salt, and warm spices, before it's double-smoked.
For something extra sweet, the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($16) delivers with a rich, caramel-like flavour. It's served warm with vanilla bourbon ice cream for good measure.
To drink, there's a selection of signature cocktails and refreshing, buzz-free beverages.
The creamy, floral Purple Haze ($18) gets its soft lavender hue from an ube pandan vanilla syrup. Crafted to mimic the flavours of a bubble tea, it also layers Earl Grey, coconut cream, Havana Club 3 Year, and Amaro Montenegro.
On tap, there's the fun-filled Margarita ($16), which has the familiar sweet, sour, and salty profile. It's finished with a salt rim and fresh lime.
The zero-proof Pink Noise ($10) is light, fruity and herbaceous, made with strawberry lychee syrup, lime, soda, and basil.
With 13 dartboards, 2 shuffleboards, a private karaoke room, and a total capacity of 175, Oche is ideal for everything from corporate events to date nights and social outings. That said, it's probably not the spot for families with young kids — these are real darts, after all.
Oche King West is located at 461 King Street West Laneway.
