96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

This $9 million Toronto home is totally stacked with luxury amenities

In Toronto, a $9 million price tag comes with certain expectations.

A nice kitchen is basically a given. A pool certainly helps. Maybe a wine cellar if you're feeling fancy.

But 96 Dawlish Ave. takes the luxury-home checklist and runs with it, packing in everything from a 2,000-bottle wine cellar and private elevator to a home theatre, sauna, dog wash and resort-like backyard.

The living room.

The custom-built North York home is currently listed for $8,980,000, and almost every inch of the property seems designed to remind you that no expense was spared.

A double-sided gas fireplace in the family room.

But it wasn't always quite so extravagant.

A wet bar in the basement.

Back in 2021, the property was listed for $3,998,000 and described rather modestly as a "lovely livable family home."

The primary ensuite bathroom.

At the time, it was a classic four-bedroom, four-bathroom house with plenty of traditional charm but also the kind of interiors that were clearly due for an update. And whoever bought it apparently decided an "update" wasn't going to cut it.

The old house has since been replaced by an entirely new custom residence designed and built with interiors by Wise Nadel Design and landscaping by John Lloyd Landscape Architect.

Sitting on a substantial 57-by-150-foot south-facing lot, the new home is considerably more ambitious than its predecessor.

The front entrance.

Even the exterior is a laundry list of high-end materials, with Indiana limestone, Highland slate roofing, solid flagstone, custom architectural metalwork and aluminum-clad windows.

The foyer.

The massive pivoting front door even comes with a solid brass handle and precision German hardware.96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

Inside, things only get more elaborate.

The foyer.

There are French white oak hardwood floors, white oak staircases, custom Bellini cabinetry, solid brass hardware and intricate marble mosaic work throughout the house.

The primary bedroom.

And if you happen to be really into stone, this place is basically a geological treasure chest.

The kitchen.

Blue Moon Quartzite, Blue de Savoie, Taj Mahal Quartzite, Bianco Fulmine, Calcite Azul, Dolomite, Nero Marquina, White Opal, Camouflage and Incognitus Quartzite are all used throughout the interiors.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The kitchen, breakfast area and butler's pantry.

The kitchen is predictably enormous and outfitted with custom cabinetry and dramatic stone slabs, while the main living spaces feature soaring ceilings, oversized windows, and plenty of room for entertaining.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The elevator.

There's also a private elevator, which should make getting between floors considerably easier after you've sampled a few bottles from the home's climate-controlled wine cellar.

The wine cellar.

And this isn't some little basement rack with room for a couple dozen bottles. The custom white oak cellar, built by Rosehill Wine Cellars, can hold more than 2,000 bottles.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The home theatre.

Elsewhere in the lower level, there's a home theatre, gym, dry sauna and heated floors.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The sauna.

There's even a dedicated dog wash, meaning the pets arguably have a nicer bathing setup than most Toronto renters.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The backyard pool with water features.

The backyard is similarly over-the-top.

The backyard.

The south-facing outdoor space has been transformed into what the listing calls a "resort-calibre" retreat, complete with a heated concrete swimming pool, three linear water features and a covered outdoor living area.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The patio.

It also has a custom outdoor kitchen, landscaped gardens, and plenty of patio space for entertaining.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

The dining room.

And because apparently shovelling snow would be an unacceptable inconvenience in a house like this, the driveway is heated too.

96 Dawlish Avenue Toronto

A home office.

Behind the scenes, the property is equipped with automated irrigation and a fully integrated Control4 smart-home system that manages security and central media.

The dining room.

All told, it's a pretty dramatic transformation from the relatively conventional family home that occupied the lot just five years ago.

The family room fireplace.

Of course, that transformation also comes with a dramatic jump in price. From a $3,998,000 listing in 2021 to an asking price of $8,980,000 today, 96 Dawlish Ave. is now seeking nearly $5 million more than the old house was listed for.

The open-concept kitchen and family room.

But then again, the old house didn't have an elevator, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar or somewhere special to wash your dog.
