Canada's new tallest building is flexing on the Toronto skyline as it nears its final 106-storey height.
Now clearing its 106th and final storey, the mammoth SkyTower development will soon top out at a record-breaking height of almost 352 metres — taller than any building in Canada and comparable in height to the observation pod of the CN Tower.
The new mixed-use tower from Vancouver-based developer Pinnacle International is the second phase in the gargantuan One Yonge complex, a long-term redevelopment of the former Toronto Star lands at the foot of Yonge Street.
Now just metres from its final height, the tower stands as by far the most prominent building on the city skyline, its sky-scraping stature only further aided by its position along the waterfront — sitting front and centre in many of the most popular cityscape views.
Its architectural statement nearing completion, the tower has become the punctuation mark in recent views of the city.
The crown jewel in Hariri Pontarini Architects' design for the broader One Yonge complex, the SkyTower is the second Canadian development to achieve the sought-after (but entirely arbitrary) "supertall" classification by the Council on Vertical Urbanism, referring to buildings exceeding 300 metres in height.
The SkyTower's new crown as the country's tallest building has been snatched away from rival project One Bloor West, which briefly claimed the title in 2025 after surpassing the height of the First Canadian Place office tower, which reigned as Canada's tallest building for five decades.

For anyone rushing to the comments section with pitchforks, let me preempt you by noting that, no, the CN Tower is not classified as a building but rather a freestanding structure, as it lacks successive habitable floors.
Despite this official record status, SkyTower's architectural peak will stand as the third-tallest object on the Toronto skyline, behind the 533-metre CN Tower and the 355-metre antenna atop First Canadian Place.
In addition to claiming the record of Canada's tallest building, SkyTower also recently entered the record books as the first residential building in North America to reach 106 floors, another feather in the landmark's very high cap.
Once complete, the building will host the new Le Méridien Toronto Pinnacle Hotel, and feature a 106th-floor restaurant along with 80,000 sq. ft. of amenities, including a private lookout for residents.
