Major seasonal attraction in Toronto will run for an extra 3 weeks

The Bentway's winter skate trail has officially been extended, giving Toronto residents — whether fitness enthusiasts or anyone seeking a fun outdoor activity beneath the Gardiner Expressway — nearly another month to keep active.

The popular 220-metre-long, figure-eight-shaped loop beneath one of the busiest highways in the country was originally set to close on Family Day, Feb. 16. However, organizers decided to extend the dates "following a strong start to the season and continued public enthusiasm."

Touted as one of "Toronto's most iconic winter experiences" by organizers, The Bentway's Winter Skate also features a number of brand activations and curated attractions, including the infamous Polar Bear Skate (where guests can skate in nothing but their underwear) and the upcoming Galentine's Day Skate Party set to take place on Feb. 13.

Starting Feb. 17, the loop will be open Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests should note that skate rentals and concessions will not be available on site from Monday to Wednesday.

The program now runs through Mar. 8, giving Toronto residents an extra three weeks to lace up and hit the trail for some winter fun.

Winter Skate takes place at The Bentway, located at 250 Fort York Blvd.
