Toronto is set to ring in Lunar New Year in 2026 — the Year of the Horse — with a massive two-day festival featuring a dazzling fireworks display.
To mark the start of the Chinese New Year, the weekend-long celebration, formally known as the Toronto Spring Festival, is designed to honour diversity and community in the city. It will feature everything Toronto residents have come to expect from an event of this scale, including live performances, cultural showcases, and ethnic foods to satiate those cravings.
Attendees can also look forward to a fireworks display to mark the occasion. Following the resounding success of last year's first-ever fireworks presentation at City Hall, organizers are planning another colourful spectacle to light up the sky on Feb. 15 at 9 p.m.
While details about performers and showcases remain under wraps, organizers have confirmed they are expecting close to 80,000 attendees. The strong turnout at past events has also prompted a significant change this year, with the festival expanding to run over two days instead of one.
More details will be released in the coming weeks, and those interested are encouraged to stay tuned to the event's official website for updates.
Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 17 this year, and the Year of the Horse is associated with success, diligence, and driving forward.
The Toronto Spring Festival will take place on Feb. 14 and 15, from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, at Nathan Phillips Square, located at 100 Queen St. W.
