One of our favourite summer festivals returns to Toronto this weekend to cover an entire neighbourhood in stunning artwork.
The sixth Yorkville Murals Festival (YVM) takes place in the city's most stylish neighbourhood from Saturday, Aug. 23 to Sunday, Aug. 24, with a theme this year of 'No Empty Spaces.'
And while the showcase of massive murals is not to be missed, there is so much more to discover during the neighbourhood takeover.

"YVM is Toronto’s ultimate summer send-off, an immersive celebration of art, culture and city life," Alan Ganev, the founder and director of Yorkville Murals, says in a statement.
"Every year, we challenge the limits of public art, reimagining Yorkville as a vibrant cultural hub where contemporary art, music and community collide in bold and surprising ways."
At YVM, you can expect live art showcases, giant inflatable activations, and a massive Block Party full of DJ sets and other live performances that is free for all ages to enjoy. However, you'll want to snag your cost-free tickets for the shindig before they are gone, with the option to pay for an upgraded VIP experience if you so choose.
YVM will kick things off with an all-new Day Party on the Cumberland Parkade Rooftop.
The daytime shindig from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. includes live painting and art installations, live DJ sets presented by Living Color, Dopamine Machine and Secret Society, and a fully stocked bar.
Art lovers and partygoers can keep the summer vibes going with the Saturday Block Party from 5 to 10 p.m. in the evening, with headliner Skratch Bastid and friends.

And the fun doesn't have to end just because the sun goes down: Keep the good times going at The Official YVM After-Party at Park Hyatt Toronto.
The upscale late-night event from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 features curated DJ sets, signature cocktails and your chance to mingle with Toronto's art and culture scene.
Other YVM highlights that you won't want to miss include the massive Artist Inflatable Park in Village of Yorkville Park, acclaimed artist Sage Barnes at Park Hyatt Toronto, and YVM wellness sessions like open-air yoga and even a cold plunge experience.
And while you're in the mural courtyard, visit the Herradura Tequila Lounge for complimentary tequila samples — it's the perfect pairing for your weekend of art.
