ontario fall fairs festivals

Here are all the Ontario fall fairs and festivals you need to check out this year

Ontario is home to an incredibly diverse set of fall fairs and festivals that residents can add to their bucket lists for this upcoming season, with something to do in almost every corner of the GTA.

We've compiled a list of the region's best seasonal celebrations to help you fully take advantage of autumn 2025, no matter where in Southern Ontario you're located:

Staple seasonal festivals

Although there are a plethora of events that take over the fall months each year, there are certain fairs that have become staples in Ontario — the ones that you tell your friends about and mark on your calendar well in advance.

Here's a list of the most talked-about fall fairs that are returning for 2025:

Local and agricultural fairs

September and October are synonymous with local carnivals held on large outdoor grounds, complete with midways, petting zoos, derbys, educational exhibits and more.

They always have a country and old-school vibe to them that many love, focused around agricultural and rural life. Many of these have also been around for well over 100 years!

Here are some you can check out throughout Ontario to bring back the nostalgia:

Apple festivals

This one deserves its own category, right? Right! With fall generally being the best time to pick apples — they're the most delicious and crisp this time of year — many small (and big) towns host applefests to kick off this popular apple-picking season.

If apples are your thing, then here are the fests made especially for you:

The ever-so-popular Brighton Applefest is home to all things apples and draws large crowds every year. This year it takes place September 25 - 28 at Memorial Park, in downtown Brighton. Photo from Brighton Applefest Facebook.

Pumpkin festivals

And of course, NO fall itinerary is complete without a visit to pick pumpkins. Around this time of year, everyone likes to adorn their homes with gourds, whether in a festive cornucopia for the season or all carved up for Halloween.

If you like a good pumpkin patch and are always on the lookout for the best places for an autumn-hued photo op — and for picking your own pumpkin, while you're at it — put these festivals into your calendar:

With the changing season, the weather will be cooler, the trees more colourful, and the air full of cider and crushed leaves — all factors that make Ontario’s fall fairs and festivals feel so magical.
