The secret party at Toronto's hottest street festival this week you need to know about

One of Toronto's most eagerly anticipated annual street festivals is back this weekend, and there's a not-so-secret party happening in the middle of the action, brought to you by one of the city's favourite party collectives.

As sure a sign of summer's return as sun-drenched patios and folks flocking to Woodbine Beach, Do West Fest is back this weekend, bringing three days of non-stop action to Dundas West between Ossington and Lansdowne.

With last year's festival drawing an estimated 750,000 visitors, it's safe to say that Do West Fest is consistently one of the city's biggest street festivals, and with over 20 licensed patios and 200 local vendors, it's also (if I may be so frank) one of the best.

Across the festival's 16-block run, you'll stumble upon a number of stages with live music and entertainment, street food vendors serving up every type of cuisine you could dream of and vendors selling everything from handmade crafts and goods to vintage clothes.

The festival kicks off on Friday, June 6, with a shorter run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and proceeds to run 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 8.

Beyond the things you can buy, though, several local collectives will also set up shop at the festival with their own devoted areas where you can kick back and relax or party the night away.

One such collective is Oasis House, who'll be hosting its own quasi-music festival from its haunt at the St. Clarens Parkette.

Oasis House

An event collective founded by five friends with parties held in their backyard has grown in the past five years to be one of the most exclusive invites in the city, holding events everywhere from Soho House to Bangarang, and, for the past three years, Do West Fest.

In past years, Oasis House has collaborated with other local organizations like Hippie Market to create, quite literally, an oasis in the middle of the festival, complete with games, a bar, and lounge seating, all decorated to the nines.

The festival took notice, and this year they're an official part of the festival's programming, putting up their own stage in St. Clarens Parkette with some of the city's hottest up-and-coming DJs spinning throughout the festival, along with the great vibes that made Oasis House's name.

Just like the rest of Do West Fest, Oasis House's stage is totally free to attend, and promises to be "a space that is inclusive and welcoming to all ages and genders."
