Huge vintage car show will shut down Toronto streets this summer

One of Toronto's biggest and best outdoor car shows is returning to the city this month.

Hosted by The Crossroads of The Danforth BIA, Wheels on the Danforth is set to return this month, putting hundreds of unique, vintage and rare cars all in one place.

The street festival is one of the biggest events the eastern part of Danforth Avenue will host all summer long, inviting thousands of automotive enthusiasts to explore the neighbourhood and check out some truly cool wheels while spending a day in the sun.

Taking place over the course of one day, the festival will feature two separate car shows; one running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the other from 4 to 9 p.m., where participants can put their machines on display for some epic prizes.

If you believe your own wagon could be a winner, registration to participate is open until Friday, Aug 9 through the event's website, and only costs $25, or you can also register day-of for a fee of $35.

If you'd rather spectate, you're in for an equally great time.

You'll not only be able to see fascinating cars from bygone eras, but the festival will also be hosting a slew of fun programming to keep the good vibes going.

You can expect live music performances and DJs setting the soundtrack all day, alongside buskers and street performers displaying dazzling feats.

Another signature element of the annual Wheels on the Danforth festival is the Glamour Girls and Garage Gals showcase, where competitors show off women's fashion from the 40's, 50's and 60's while vying for the Miss Wheels on the Danforth 2024 crown.

Wheels on the Danforth is taking place on Saturday, Aug 17 at the junction of Danforth Avenue and Danforth Road.
