This Week in Music: NYE, Dovercourt Boiler Room takeover, Raptors Drake Night, Kayne rants at Toronto

This Week in Music rounds up the latest news, releases and concerts coming to Toronto.

Drake Night with the Toronto Raptors
The Raptors are having a Drake night on January 11 at the ACC! What does that mean? USA Today looked into it. Stay tuned for more news of Drake's doings around town.

Stream the Dovercourt takeover via Boilerroom TV
Fans of local (and internationally acclaimed) electronic take note: that Dovercourt takeover of Boilerroom (filmed in Toronto) is up now. It features Martyn and Gingy. The Dovercourt EP released on Martyn's imprint 3024 (which made our top compilations of 2013 list) was the base for this broadcast. Find the audio of the set here.

Soupcans' Good Feelings reissue
Telephone Explosion Records are doing a limited repressing of Soupcans' debut Good Feelings on white vinyl. 220 copies of the "zombie apocalypse Beach Boys" punk record will be put out for your grubby little hands. The vinyl drops like so much pure white snow on January 7th, but you can pre-order it here.

Kanye ranted at Toronto because he loves us! Drake was there!
Kanye and Drake share more in common than being rich, famous rappers. They both also have tons of feelings and love to share. Kayne was in Toronto last week (remember last week? It's okay, we all had a lot to drink) and not only brought Drake out on stage, he also blessed the crowd with his feels. Lots of them. If you weren't there and have time to read the full transcript of KanyeRantTO, it's up here.

This week's hot tickets

Baauer + RL Grime / December 30 / 10pm / The Hoxton / $15
The night before NYE, Baauer (you know, the H_arl_m Sh_k_ guy - yes, you listened to him before, yes, you danced the HS in kindergarten, in Harlem) will throw down at The Hoxton with equally awesome producer/DJ RL Grime. As a NYE hater, I'd advise getting wild at this and spending the 31st at home drinking cocoa and laughing about the teaming masses of confused partiers struggling to fit their intoxicated bods onto the TTC. Have your New Year's kiss/grind early this year. It's sold out but maybe you know someone at the door.

New Year's Eve Party Guide
No, I don't expect you to take the above advice. Get plugged into our huge New Year's Eve party guide right here. The huge round up includes a strong selection of musical options like Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Hooded Fang, Weaves, Maylee Todd, Dwayne Gretzky, Kontravoid, Huren, A Man Called Warwick, The Sadies and more.
