Social Videographer and Host - Food and Restaurants

We have an immediate opening for a Social Videographer to create food and restaurant-related content for our social media accounts with a primary focus on TikTok and Instagram.

This is a full-time role. blogTO offers a competitive salary and rates which is dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Create original videos.
  • Pitch content ideas. Host, film, edit, post and/or schedule content.
  • Plan and host Instagram and TikTok lives as applicable.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
  • Monitor and report analytics from your videos.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a TikTok and Instagram creator.
  • Snap and YouTube experience an asset but not required.
  • In depth knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the topics we cover, particularly the Toronto food and restaurants scene including the latest openings, hidden gems and great food options across the city including Scarborough, North York, East York, Etobicoke, midtown and downtown Toronto. In depth knowledge of specific cuisines an asset.
  • The ability to work independently to shoot and edit video content to bring your ideas to fruition but also collaborate with fellow team members as applicable.

Salary range

Web Content Creator - Food and Restaurants 

We have an immediate opening for a Content Creator who can contribute written content (articles) to blogTO's website related to restaurant openings and closures, local food news, bars, nightlife and other Toronto food-related topics.

Scope of coverage includes all of Toronto including Scarborough, East York, North York, Etobicoke, midtown and downtown Toronto with occasional articles about the food scene in the GTA and southern Ontario.

The ideal candidate should have at least 1-3 years of professional journalism experience, be based in Toronto and have a deep knowledge of what is happening in Toronto related to food and restaurants.

This is a full-time role. blogTO offers a competitive salary which is dependent on experience.

  • Pitch and write articles for the blogTO website including both shorter informational content as well as more in-depth and feature stories each week.
  • Work with a blogTO photographers and video teams to ensure written articles are packaged with appropriate visual elements.

Social Video Live Reporter - Breaking News

We have an immediate opening for a Video Reporter to create live breaking news content for our TikTok and Instagram accounts.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with reporting on live and breaking news (including hard news like crime, protests) but have the versatility to explore human-interest stories, conduct interviews and also cover events, culture and lifestyle topics.

This is a full-time role.

Senior Manager, Head of Video

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Manager to lead our social video team. The individual in this senior team role will be tasked with working with the video team on a daily basis to conceptualize, schedule, coordinate and release blogTO's video content on various social media platforms.

This is a full-time role. blogTO offers a competitive salary which is dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • With a focus on short-form, vertical video, execute blogTO's video content and release strategy across existing and emerging platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts and Snapchat with the video and social media teams.
  • Day-to-day management of the video team such as (i) watching videos for quality assurance (ii) assigning and coordinating video shoots (iii) helping the video editors create efficiencies in their editing process (iv) maintaining the social videographers' schedules (v) ensuring the release of vertical video content (vi) actively participating in brainstorming and pitch meetings.
  • Coordinating between team members to ensure the posting of editorial and sponsored content across video and social media platforms.
  • Aid in the ideation and execution of video and social media content plans.
  • Take a leadership role and actively participate in team meetings and workshops as applicable.
Requirements

  • A solid knowledge of Toronto and the subject areas blogTO covers.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience managing a team.
  • Production and editing knowledge is an asset.
