Rose Byrne shouts out Toronto street and neighbourhood where she lived

Academy Award-nominated actress Rose Byrne may not have been in Toronto to accept her latest accolade, but she did let her love of "Hollywood North" be known.

During the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards on Mar. 2, Byrne was awarded Best Performance for her role as Linda, a psychotherapist in the indie film If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, a performance that's also up for Best Actress at the Oscars on March 12.

Though she couldn't be in Toronto that evening — likely still riding the whirlwind of awards season following the previous night's Actor Awards in Los Angeles — Byrne made sure her gratitude was felt from afar.

The Globe and Mail's Barry Hertz shared her pre-taped acceptance speech, which included a heartfelt nod to Toronto, a city where Byrne has filmed numerous projects over the years.

"I love Toronto. I shot Miss America there, and I lived in Trinity Bellwood(s) and I loved my neighbourhood." Byrne said, referring to her portrayal of iconic feminist activist Gloria Steinem in the 2020 FX miniseries.

She also gave one particular street a special shoutout.

"I love Dundas Street!" Bryne exclaimed, and we can't help but wonder if she's referring to Dundas West specifically, known for its quirky vintage shops, trendy restaurants and relaxed coffee shops.

We love it when celebs boldly profess their love for Toronto — how could we not? The Australian-born actor now joins fellow fans Sabrina Carpenter, Martha Stewart, and Toronto's own Will Arnett in publicly singing the city's praises.
