Sarah Polley Scores Oscar Nod For Away From Her

Toronto's Sarah Polley scored an Oscar nomination this morning for Best Adapted Screenplay for Away from Her. It seems like ages ago that the film first screened for Toronto audiences. Matt Thomas gave it a plug as one of his top five films at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.

Away from her also received a Best Actress nod for Julie Christie who might just be the odds on favourite to pick up the prize. Ellen Page was also nominated in this category. Congrats to Sarah and let's hope she pulls off an upset in her category and comes out on top. She's up against Best Picture contenders No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood and Atonement, as well as Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
