New Film Website

Just in time for TIFF, Women in Film and Television (WIFT) and the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) have launched a new website for professional Canadian filmmakers - www.canadianfilmmaker.com appropriately enough.

It's targeted primarily to production companies working with a budget of 1-3 million bones; it's pretty clear that neither the DGC or WIFT have any interest in helping out the 'emerging' talents (like every other film resource, but that's a rant for another day), though at least they recognize that anyone with more than that probably doesn't need any advice or assistance.

To be fair, it's a nicely organized site - phases of development, production and distribution clearly mapped out with key questions and steps for each. My suggestions - add a section for the new grads, film students, or simply those looking to break into the biz, and a job board. The film industry is all about connections - the more resources created to foster and develop those links, the better.
