These are the best Toronto-themed Halloween costumes of 2026

Halloween is one of Toronto's biggest annual events, celebrated enthusiastically by almost every age group, and many residents went for very locally themed costumes this year.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Halloween lovers took that to heart this year. Creative juices and glue guns flowed to forge some amazing Toronto references this past weekend, and we've put together a list of some of our favourites.

From mayoral candidates to Toronto landmarks. Here are the best Toronto-themed Halloween costumes spotted this year.

Hazel Mae

Sportscaster and broadcast journalist Hazel Mae is one of Toronto's favourite faces on television. Widely recognized for her work reporting on the Toronto Blue Jays, she has established herself as a prime role model in the broadcasting industry, and some kids used Halloween as a chance to show her how much she means to them.

2026 Mayoral candidates

After an electric election between candidates Mayor Olivia Chow and Brad Bradford, people brought some light-hearted fun to a high-tension time, like this pair who dressed separately as the mayoral candidates, only to bump into each other on the street.

Bike Lane

As the province moves forward with its plans to remove bike lanes on several major streets, Halloween revellers dressed up as the paved lanes to honour what once was.

Doug Ford

If you are already looking for inspo for next year, this Doug Ford with a 'no bike lanes' sign get-up would be a great addition to the bike lanes idea to complete a couple's costume.

Matty Matheson

Matty Matheson has become somewhat of Toronto's culinary sweetheart. Although originally from New Brunswick, he has called Toronto home and built a community here for many years.

It's not surprising that he's been honoured through cosplay. It may be one of my favourite impressions of Matheson I've seen.

Highway 401

Nothing gets people more excited about a costume than a play on words. Instagram user dressed up as Highway 401, with tiny cars glued onto their shirt, paired with a box of tissues, representing one of the scariest things happening all year round: congestion on the highway.

TTC Fare Inspector and PRESTO Card

A large spike in TTC-inspired costumes covered our feeds this year. Is it an homage? Is it a way for commuters to take out a bit of their anger towards the many closures experienced every weekend? We aren't here to interpret them for you.

One pair, by chance meeting, found themselves dressed as a TTC fare-inspector and a large PRESTO card, making for the perfect duo costume.

Drake and Goth Baddie

Edmonton Oilers Mathieu Joseph poked fun at fellow Canadian Drake this Halloween. Joseph dug deep into the internet's archives to dress up as Drake himself, while his girlfriend, Emy-Jade, dressed as the online personality Pinkchyu, whom netizens rumoured Drake may have been dating at the time.

With many TTC-inspired costumes this year, one of the most difficult to recreate and pay homage to might just be the actual vehicles themselves.

This pair took to Halloween on Church to show Toronto how it's done. A pop-up streetcar and dressed as a TTC driver and passenger themselves, this duo made me not scoul for the first time when I saw that dreaded 'off route' sign.

Museum station group costume

A quintet of friends took to honouring what can only be assumed to be one of their favourite local attractions.

The friends banned their creative minds and glue guns together to create Museum Station, the ROM, and three other attractions found within the ROM, including the T-Rex and the Bat Cave.
