Popular Danish brand, Flying Tiger Copenhagen, known for its quirky, colourful and affordable household items, has finally opened its first Canadian location at Toronto's Eaton Centre.
Excitement has been building for over a month since news broke, with some fans even claiming the store opening is "bigger than the World Cup," a statement which I, a consumer of all things whimsical, can agree with.
Flying Tiger's CEO, Jens Aarup Mikkelsen, tells blogTO that launching into the Canadian market has been ten years in the making, and the Eaton Centre is just the first of many locations to come in Ontario.
Now, shoppers in Toronto can visit the store on Level 1 (beside the escalators going down to the food court), and stock up on Danish-designed stationery, home decor and miscellaneous knick-knacks that should "spark joy" and "bring a smile to your face."
Mikkelsen explains that a whopping 80 percent of items in the store cost under $10, so if you're on a budget, you can still add items to your cart without feeling guilty.
These lemon drinking glasses, which Mikkelsen says are a bestseller this season, are just $8.
You can also get a bunch of different food or animal-shaped squishy balls, including this one shaped like a croissant, for $8.
Flying Tiger has reimagined classic games like backgammon with bold, modern designs. This do-it-yourself Sudoku board is just $10.
Mikkelsen's personal favourite item is this $6 storytelling dice game, which offers a fun, screen-free way to pass the time.

While the store carries essential items like Q-tips for $1, it also sells a decent amount of unique yet useful items like these dust slippers, on sale now for for $9. It's an item you don't really need but probably want, right?
Another thing you may not necessarily need but probably want for the novelty of it all: a giant pencil for $6.

One item I personally gravitated towards is this colourful tray for $6, which I plan on using to eat "girl dinner" on the couch while watching Love Island.

This ridiculously cute watermelon slice is actually a $10 purse that can hold water or any other liquid when you're on the go. The perfect thing to carry with you when you're heading to the beach or the park.
Flying Tiger is not without a few silly games, including $15 head basket game perfect for spicing up boring office parties or a rainy day at the cottage, maybe.
Stationery lovers will really get a kick out of this store because its selection of paper, journals, markers and pens is top-tier. These colourful pens, for instance, are $3 each.
It's also chock full of gold jewelry if your hands need new bling for summer. Rings and earrings range from $6 to $9.
When you buy rings, you'll need a place to store them all. Why not grab this funky jewelry box that's shaped like a couch? It's only going to cost you $21.
After you decorate your hands, you can decorate your face with a wide selection of trendy sunglasses starting at $10.

These cat-shaped wall lamps might just be what your apartment needs to make it a little cozier at night. Lucky for you, a set of two costs just $15.
Budding artists on a budget can find a plethora of items here for their craft, including this handy watercolour paint set for $6.
Need a new mug to replace the one you just shattered? You can find cute fruit-themed mugs for $8.
If you're feeling peckish after all that shopping, don't forget to check out the candy aisle and grab some jumbo-sized Rockets for $2 a pop.
And this is just us scratching the surface. There's so much more to explore at Flying Tiger now that it's open at Toronto's Eaton Centre. Happy shopping!
