New ultra-discount store taking over abandoned Pizza Pizza in Toronto

A new discount store is setting up shop within the shell of a former Pizza Pizza location in Toronto.

The former Pizza Pizza location at 536 St. Clair Ave. W, just west of Bathurst St., was shuttered in 2024 after the franchise relocated to a new location nearby at 64 Vaughan Rd. In the year since its closure, the site has been fenced off and overgrown with weeds as it sat awaiting a new tenant.

However, signage was recently installed on the former pizza chain location, indicating that a new discount business called Binz Mart was preparing to open.

While the name Binz may sound similar to the chain that briefly operated in Toronto in the 2010s, Binz Mart's Aiman Sangam tells blogTO that the store "is a fresh, new business and has no relation to the defunct Binz Toronto chain that closed in 2014, or any other business."

Sangam explains that "Binz Mart will sell a wide range of discounted online returns, overstock items, and other liquidations, including electronics, toys, clothing, home goods, small appliances, and seasonal items."

"We are excited to introduce ourselves to the community and look forward to serving you soon," said Sangam.
