Susie Brings Out the Love

Susie Love is a Toronto-based designer who is bringing old jewelry back from the dead.

Ms. Love is notorious for scouring garage sales or wherever she can find vintage beads and materials to make her colourful, bright and funky bracelets, necklaces, rings and dresses.

"When I was in grade one, my mom bought these long socks and my sister and I cut them into rows, dyed them and tried selling them at school," she says.

While she didn't sell any then, she's making a name for herself now.

"Vintage is huge now," she says.

Her stuff, with the same vibe as Betsey Johnson, ranges from $10 to $150 and is available at 69 Vintage on Queen West and Melanie's Closet on Brock Street. She also sells her stuff in Manhattan.
