Canada-wide recall on popular brand of nicotine pouches

Canadians who use nicotine pouches may want to check if their go-to brand is part of a nationwide recall.

On Wednesday, Health Canada issued a recall for popular nicotine pouches ZYN and Siberia.

"Consult your health-care professional if you have any health concerns," reads the recall notice.

According to the health agency, the affected products have "no market authorization." This means that the product hasn't been inspected for safety, efficacy and quality, which makes it illegal to sell, import or advertise the product in Canada.

The impacted products include all lots of Siberia 35 mg nicotine pouches in the flavours super slim, white dry, power white, and white slim. All lots of ZYN 6 mg nicotine pouches in the flavours cool mint, wintergreen, spearmint, menthol, chill, and peppermint are also part of the recall.

Health Canada advises users of these nicotine pouch brands to verify if their product is affected, consult their healthcare provider for any health concerns, contact the recalling firm if they have any questions, and report any side effects or safety complaints to the agency.

This has been classified as a type II recall, which means the use or exposure to this recalled product "may cause temporary adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
