Toronto chef Matty Matheson has a new show streaming on Netflix next month

Toronto's own Matty Matheson is no stranger to the small screen (he's an executive producer and star on FX's Emmy-winning The Bear), but he's got a new project headed straight for streaming this January.

Okay, "new" is a bit of a misnomer: rather, Deadline has reported that Netflix acquired the rights to season 3 of Matheson's ongoing YouTube series Just a Dash, and it's landing on the streaming platform in just a few weeks.

Hey, having just gotten another Toronto restaurant off his hands, he's got the time to head back to Hollywood.

The cooking show first debuted on Matheson's YouTube channel back in 2019, wherein Matheson, with his characteristic brand of shrillness and chaos, cooked everything from chicken and dumplings to oxtail pho, from his home kitchen.

The show ran for two seasons before tapering off, but not to fear: seasons one and two will also be streaming on Netflix, so you can catch up on all the necessary lore before diving into what's sure to be the show's most disorderly season yet.

After a four-year hiatus, Just a Dash is officially back and better than ever, as Matheson leaves his own home kitchen behind, hitting the road with, as he admits in the trailer for the season, no kitchen, and a crew who "kind of knows what they're doing."

As the trailer would suggest, we'll be treated to watching Matheson attempt to cook everywhere from a moving RV to, seemingly, an airplane. It's the sort of culinary chaos that could only come from Matheson's mind.

The series will also heavily feature fellow Toronto food personality and frequent Matheson collaborator, Michelle Rabin, so you can rest assured, whether we get to see any familiar local settings on the show or not, our hometown will be well represented.

Just a Dash premieres on Netflix on Jan. 20, 2026.
