18 Ontario Chinese restaurants just ranked among the best in Canada

The top 50 finalists for the Chinese Restaurant Awards' Elite 30 Canada Awards have been announced, and Ontario scored an impressive showing on the list.

It's the most magical time of the year for restaurants in Canada, with major awards like North America's 50 Best Restaurants and Air Canada's Best New Restaurants bringing much-deserved attention to the crème de la crème across the country.

While the aforementioned awards ceremonies honour restaurants of all cuisines and cultures, Vancouver's annual Chinese Restaurant Awards (CRA) hone in on — you guessed it — those cooking up some of the best Chinese eats across the country.

The awards are voted upon by a panel of 15 judges, which includes food writers, healthcare professionals, finance professionals and frequent diners, ultimately culminating in a short list of the top 30 winners at a special ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

While B.C. emerged as the undisputable top destination for Chinese food in Canada with a whopping 28 entries, Ontario also held its own, with a total of 18 restaurants from Ottawa to Markham landing on the list.
