Canada's most awarded restaurant dethroned on 2025 Toronto Michelin Guide

The 2025 Toronto Michelin Guide has landed, and a whole new crop of restaurants is walking away with stars.

The annual Michelin Guide ceremony is to the Toronto culinary world what the Academy Awards are to the film industry: a night of glitz and glamour, honouring the best of the best on the local food landscape.

According to Michelin, the star designation is awarded to "establishments serving exceptional cuisine that's rich in flavour, remarkably executed and infused with the personality of a talented chef," meaning that the distinctness of the cuisine, paired with the overall quality, is the ultimate deciding factor here.

More specifically, restaurants are graded on five criteria: product quality, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavours, the personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine, and consistency over time and across the menu. Nail all of these, and you've got yourself a star.

On the 2024 list, Michelin made the surprising addition of restaurants located in the area surrounding Toronto, as well as just in the city proper, with Oakville's Hexagon, Creemore's The Pine, and Lincoln's Restaurant Pearl Morisette making the list.

In what could perhaps be the first major upset in the history of the Toronto Michelin Guide, Sushi Masaki Saito, which has historically been the most-awarded restaurant in Canada, has had one of its Two Stars removed, bringing it down to a One-Star rating.

On the other hand, Lincoln's Restaurant Pearl Morissette has taken over the throne, being awarded a Two-Star rating, on top of a Green Star.

Here are the rest of the restaurants that have been awarded stars in the 2025 Toronto Michelin Guide:
