Ontario TikToker calls out Loblaws for size of premade wrap

It's no secret that many Canadians have been frustrated over shrinkflation recently, with many calling going online to share their irritation with items like Classico sauce and President's Choice Tortilla Chips. Now, Canadians have one more reason to be upset, and this time it's over a Loblaws premade wrap.

"I'm all for a premade expensive sandwich, but this is offensive," shared Ontario TikToker Zack (@zackgiac) in a video.

In the TikTok, Zack is inside a Loblaws location in Toronto, where he came across a $7 premade wrap that filled half of the package. The video opens with the caption, "The devil works hard but Galen Weston works harder."

@zackgiac This was gonna be a story but i need to hear the outrage from my people #loblaws #galenweston #inflation #grocery #toronto ♬ original sound - Zack 🧸

The wrap can also be found on Loblaws' website for $7, but it's larger than the one in Zack's video.

"I imagine that probably costs a dollar to make if that," added Zack.

Many people took to the comments to also express their frustrations.

"They halved the halves 🤦🏻‍♀️," shared one TikTok user.

"Galen's yachts don't pay for themselves," said another.

"The way they propped it up to look longer 💀💀💀," added a third.

However, others tried to give a different perspective on the situation.

"I agree $7 is crazy…..but your not just paying for the sandwich….the packaging, the labels and wages to pay someone to make it all add up," said one user, to which Zack responded with "Loblaws and other corporations pay next to nothing for the supplies because they operate at such a high volume. People do need fair wages tho. If this were a small business I'd be more understanding."

We reached out to Loblaws for comment but did not hear back before the publication deadline.
