A well-known Toronto bakery is about to embark on a new adventure as they move into a "new, bigger" location in the city.
The end of a year and the beginning of a new one always come with their fair share of heartbreak. Something about this time of year, for all of its glitter and revelry, always comes paired with an onslaught of beloved business and restaurant closures.
But that's not the case for everyone, and when it comes to one longstanding bakery in Toronto, 2026 is going to start off with a bang.
For nearly 20 years, Petite Thuet has been among the city's most recognizable French bakeries, originating with a now-closed Financial District location before moving into Rosedale and Leslieville.
Founded by French chef Marc Thuet and his wife Bianna Zorich, the bakery, despite only boasting two locations in the city, has become a force on the city's food scene, both thanks to its retail locations and wholesale operations supplying a number of restaurants in the area.
Now, the bakery is on the precipice of a new chapter, preparing to leave its current Leslieville haunt behind in favour of what it calls a "new, bigger" location just down the street on Carlaw.
A representative from Petite Thuet tells blogTO that, while the official opening date is still up in the air, they're "aiming for January 17th, if all goes well with construction."
"We are on track, which is good," they add.
Petite Thuet's new Leslieville bakery will be located at 181a Carlaw Ave. In the meantime, you can visit the bakery's other locations at 284 Carlaw Ave. and 1162 Yonge St.
