ttc subway closure this weekend

A whopping 11 kilometres of TTC subway will shut down this weekend

TTC subway closures this weekend will make for commuter headaches on the busy Line 1 Yonge-University, and here's everything you need to know ahead of the disruption.

The TTC plans to halt service on a roughly 11-kilometre stretch of Line 1 from St George to Sheppard West stations for the full day of June 7, 2026.

The last train will serve this stretch at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, after which commuters will be downgraded to replacement shuttle bus service until Monday morning.

During the closure, Glencairn and Dupont stations will be entirely off-limits to passengers, while multiple entrances will be closed at other stations.

Entrance closures include the Ranee Avenue entrance to Yorkdale Station, the Heath Street entrance for St Clair West Station, and the Kendal Avenue entrance to Spadina Station.

Other stations on the affected stretch will remain open for commuters to purchase/reload fares and connect with surface routes.

Though the closure is only planned to last through Sunday, the TTC warns that, even upon resumption of subway service, it will be a slow go to start out the work week.

Work will continue along a stretch between Lawrence West and Wilson stations on Monday, June 8, with structural maintenance to improve restricted speed zones requiring single-track operation and slower speeds.
