TTC subway closures this weekend will once again test the patience of Toronto commuters.
The transit agency has announced it will shut down a large portion of the city's second-busiest transit line for the coming weekend of Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Service will be halted for over five kilometres of the Line 2-Bloor Danforth route, from Keele to St George, the latest in a series of closures along the line attributed to ongoing signal work.
The roughly 5.25-km stretch of Line 2 will be replaced by shuttle buses for the duration of the weekend.
This weekend’s planned shutdown joins a series of clustered outages and early closures across the network stretching back weeks, as the TTC races to implement repairs and upgrades ahead of the forthcoming FIFA World Cup games in Toronto this summer.
Aside from Dufferin Station, all other stations along the closed portion of Line 2 will remain open for passengers to purchase fares and connect with surface routes.
Service on Line 2 is expected to resume by approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, April 13.
UPDATE: The TTC has cancelled the planned weekend closure following a trio of unplanned outages during the week.
