ttc subway closure this weekend

TTC to shut down almost 10 kilometres of subway this weekend

TTC subway closures this weekend will include two full-day shutdowns on portions of the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, adding up to 9.6 kilometres of the city's second-busiest subway route.

The TTC will shutter two different portions of Line 2 on the weekend of March 28-29, 2026, as the transit agency advances planned signal work. Closures include single-day shutdowns from Kipling to Jane stations on Saturday, March 28, and Jane to Ossington stations on Sunday, March 29.

Here's everything Line 2 users need to know ahead of the weekend transit disruption:

Saturday, March 28

Service will be halted between Kipling and Jane stations, with shuttle buses to bridge the approximately 4.7-kilometre gap in subway coverage.

During the closure, the Royal York Station's Grenview Boulevard entrance will remain out of service, while all other stations will be accessible for riders to purchase fares and connect with surface routes.

While regular subway service on this stretch will resume on Sunday, March 29, at approximately 8 a.m., riders will have another outage to navigate that day.

Sunday, March 29

Line 2 passengers will face another outage between Jane and Ossington stations, the very next day, with shuttle bus service to cover the roughly 4.9-kilometre temporary hole in the subway network.

Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne and Dufferin stations will all be inaccessible during the closure, while others along the halted stretch of track will remain open for fare purchases and surface connections.

The TTC states that regular service will resume on Monday, March 30, in time for the start of the morning rush at approximately 6 a.m.
