Lids of popular pressure cooker brand recalled in Canada after over 100 burn incidents

More than 100,000 pressure cooker lids from the popular brand Ninja are under a recall across Canada due to a "potential burn hazard."

Health Canada announced on Thursday, May 1 that it is recalling pressure cooking lids of the Ninja Foodi Temperedcrisp multi-cooker. The Foodi multi-cookers' other functions aren't affected by this recall.

"The Foodi multi-cooker's pressure-cooking lid can be opened by a consumer during use, causing hot contents to escape, posing a potential risk of burn injuries to consumers," reads the statement.

According to SharkNinja, as of April 10, the company received five reports of lids being opened during use in Canada; however, there have been no reports of injury. In the U.S., the company received 106 reports of burn injuries.

Canadians are being urged to immediately stop using the multi-cookers' pressure-cooking function and discard the pressure-cooking lid. SharkNinja is asking consumers to register for the recall and to arrange for a free replacement lid.

"Do not use the unit’s pressure-cooking function until you receive the replacement lid," warns the company's website. "Then, when you receive your replacement lid, simply attach that lid whenever you want to use your unit's pressure-cooking function, just as you normally would."

Between January 2019 and April 2025, around 184,240 units of the affected products and 187 replacement pressure cooking lids were sold in Canada.

The affected product has a cooking chamber capacity of 6.5 quarts and features the brand name "Ninja" on the front of each unit, located on the hinged lid/heat shield. The recall also includes any replacement lids for these models that may have been purchased separately as service parts.

To determine if you own the affected lid, check the model number on the rating label located behind the unit, near the power cord.

The affected models with descriptions and stock-keeping unit (SKU) numbers are:
