ttc subway closure this weekend

Huge stretch of TTC subway spanning almost 5km will close all weekend

TTC commuters will have yet another subway outage to contend with this weekend.

The transit agency plans to shut down a stretch of the Line 2–Bloor Danforth spanning eight stations along almost five kilometres of track on April 12-13, 2025.

Subway riders will have to navigate a large gap in coverage between Ossington and Jane stations due to ongoing track work on this portion of Line 2, relegating commuters to cramped and unreliable shuttle bus service.

The TTC is advising passengers that Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne, and Dufferin stations will be closed, while the other four stations on the affected stretch will remain open for riders to purchase fares and connect with surface routes.

This weekend's coming service disruption is just one of 38 full-weekend subway closures planned for 2025 that were announced by the TTC earlier this year.

Regular subway service on this stretch is set to resume Monday, April 14, at approximately 6 a.m.

However, that depends on your definition of "regular."

The planned weekend outage will be bookended by nightly early closures starting at 11 p.m. on Monday, April 7, to Friday, April 11, 2025, and again on Monday, April 14, to Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Once all is said and done, there will have been 11 consecutive days of partial or full disruption on this section of Line 2.
