The top 17 new event venues in Toronto for 2016

New event venues in Toronto might seem like a rare breed thanks to the non-stop avalanche of condos, but we're here to tell you it's not true! In fact, the condo flux is only forcing people to get more creative and open even cooler spaces for art shows, parties, corporate events.

Here are my picks for the top new event venues in Toronto.

AC Repair Co
AC Repair Company is basically what would happen if someone turned their garage into an art gallery. It's located in the very hot Dupont and Franklin area, and the space regularly has art shows so book your event stat.

Blank Canvas
This is a 600-square-foot art house and open space in the Junction Triangle powered by Toronto art collective Omit Limitation. It's a 75 person capacity space with a big front room, exposed brick walls, Victorian tin ceiling, one-of-a-kind furniture and a backyard!

Brandscape
Brandscape is a brand new concept space by Toronto collective Tough Guy Mountain. This rentable VR studio, event and shooting space at 1136 Dupont St., features high ceilings and a 200-person-ish capacity.

Berkeley Bicycle Club
What's swankier than hosting an event at a historic Toronto mansion? The Gooderham House at 504 Jarvis St. is now the Berkeley Bicycle Club, a smallish venue meant for intimate parties and gatherings of 100 people inside and nearly 200 when you include the massive patio.

The Commons
Thanks to the Toronto Brick and Mortar group, this beautiful event space on Richmond East exists. It's a 5,300-square-foot facility drenched in light that can be divided into two studios. The space also includes a sound system, tables, chairs and a dressing room.

Electric Perfume
This Danforth venue is a "fun and learning oriented studio-gallery-lounge space for the development and exhibition of live gaming environments and immersive experiences." The main floor is for events, workshops, exhibitions, and the cozier basement is more for chilling out and lounging.

Free
Free is a concept space for those who love photography, videography, directing and production - among many other arts-inspired things. It recently hosted a huge skateboard art show in the space on Claremont Street.

The Full Bawdy Loft
Located at 290 Carlaw, this theatre and events space is 2,000 square feet and will make your jaw drop when you walk in. It's perfect for fundraising events, weddings, photoshoots, standup nights. Think of it as a good old vaudeville soapbox spot.

The (new) Great Hall
We already told you that the ground level space inside The Great Hall will soon be transformed into a German-style beer hall, but they also recently renovated the entire building. The capacity of the whole place is 1,243, but each individual space is charming if you need something smaller.

Henderson Brewing
This craft brewery on Sterling Road is a 9,000-square-foot microbrewery with a constant stream of hoppy visitors and is a perfect spot to enjoy a beer inside an old an gymnastics studio. It not only holds beer events, but the massive industrial space is also available for parties, weddings and concerts.

Lululemon Queen Street
Lululemon's huge new concept store is both a retail and event space; it's the first of its kind in Canada. It features three zones: the Residency (retail area), the Hustle - the communal lounge area in the back where you can read and work - and The Attic, a space to sweat it all out.

The Den
This nightlife hotspot at 423 College St., has quickly become a club-goer's fave thanks to its amazing sound system. The Den is on the lower level and is a spacious restaurant, lounge and event space. It has a rustic, cozy vibe and it;s open to both small private parties and larger public events.

Offsite
The cutest thing to open on Dundas West in some time is this cafe, retail shop and event space ready for all your occasions. It merges Canadian fashion with coffee culture and art everything can easily be moved aside for your new launch party, dance event or art show. The space is bright, clean and versatile.

One Loft
If you want to host an intimate loft party but don't own a loft, you're in luck. Rent out the One Loft at College and Spadina, which has multiple rooms available and 4,250 square feet of space.

Smash Ping Pong Lounge
Everyone's favourite rec room pastime that blew up on King West now exists in Riverside with 12 ping pong tables set up over two floors. Lucky for you, the second floor is a private event space, perfect for large private or corporate parties. The venue rental includes access to food and drinks, projector screens and table tennis, of course!

Tract 9
Dubbed Toronto's creative factory, this space at 358 Dufferin does everything from video production, web design, event planning and hosting. The team does it all and believes in the people they work with.

The Wine Academy
The Wine Academy is a difficult place to find, but it's worth it once inside. Part member's club, part storage locker, and part tasting room, this is a shockingly large space for wine lovers. The impressive 6,000-square-foot underground facility is perfect for exclusive events or smaller parties, includes a board room and has a very Bruce Wayne vibe.

Did I miss a cool new event space you're excited about? Let us know in the comments.
